For those of you that wonder about why there would be tons of articles written on how to make cappuccino, the fact is this, cappuccino is easy to make, but a good one is not easy to produce.

Many of us grew up with coffee makers and in this younger generation, many of you would be growing up with single serve and espresso makers, so how to make cappuccino has never been a concern to you.

But, for those of us that grew up using stove top espresso maker or even some of the semi-automatic espresso maker, we are probably more familiar with the 1/3 espresso, 1/3 froth and 1/3 milk of the cappuccino.

Sure, cappuccino is an easy feat with all those machines around, with single serve brewer like tassimo, all you need is to press a button and you would be served with a cappuccino in a matter of seconds.

However, have you thought of what is going to happened if you do have these fanciful machines. How are you going to enjoy all those gourmet coffee? Would you still know how to make cappuccino? This link offers a very interesting method on making cappuccino without any machines; it offers a cappuccino solution when one is without a machine.

If one is to make a cappuccino with a machine, there are 2 challenges. One of them if of course espresso, this is coffee that requires high pressure water to extract, so how does one do that? Next would be the froth, this is also a milk content product that is achieved by passing through high pressure steam, how does one do that?

To get the taste as similar to an espresso maker, I would recommend the use of a stove top espresso maker; bialetti is the most commonly used. If some of you are thinking about using any drip coffee maker, like the under cabinet coffee maker in your house -forget about it!

The drip filter coffee is very much lighter and the taste is not as heavy as espresso. So, the cappuccino you produced using coffee such as this would be diluted and lifeless.

Stove top espresso maker although can brew the espresso at approximately 4 bar pressure, it is pretty close to the real thing. Now, the froth is another challenge.

One of the easiest way is to steam the milk and keep whisking the milk. This would produce froth like milk content.

When making the cappuccino, after pouring the espresso and the steam milk, all you need to do is to scoop the froth on top. But, it is a look alike; the density is not very similar to the real froth that is made under pressured steam!

There you have it, cappuccino is not that easy to produce if you do not have those espresso maker. Now, if I hope that there is one thing that this article can achieves, it would be to make you more appreciative of the technology that goes behind all these machine.

Tips on coffee

Imagine waking to the smell of your own specially roasted taste bud thrillin coffee. No matter if your coffee preference is whole bean coffee, flavored decaf java, organic coffee, or any other type of specialty coffee, the beans will make or break your coffee drinking pleasure.

You’ll need to pay attention to three major coffee making ingredients in order to guarantee great tasting coffee.

Your coffee maker or coffee pot or french press, whatever it is that you use to make your fresh brewed coffee that you loving fill your coffee cup with, it’s gotta be spotless.

Your best coffee gift to yourself (or if you buy coffee gifts for others) are your coffee beans. So be sure that you buy the freshest coffee beans that you can find, sorta like the beans you buy from spotajava coffee.

You can buy already ground coffee, however for the very best cup of great tasting coffee every time, you’ll want to grind your own coffee beans from whole beans for each brewing.

Makes no difference if it’s kona coffee, spotajava premium connoisseur peaberry coffee, any of your favorite flavored or specialty coffee beans, even decaf coffe beans, you do know that you can get flavored decaf coffee right, the beans that your coffee roaster uses to actually roast your coffee are also very important.

At SpotaJava coffee only flavorful Arabica beans are used to roast your own unique coffee flavor and are then roasted from green coffee beans only after you have placed your order, so you’ll thrill to the eccentricity in fresh SpotaJava flavored coffee.

To make certain your coffee mug is always filled with the best coffee it can be, ya gotta use some good water with your cofee beans - right. So what makes good coffee water?

Purified water in your coffee maker

This cannot be understated. Your delicious cup of coffee is pretty all much water. Though it will be heated when brewed, it pays to pour clean water into your cofe cup. With the way people are mindful about drinking clean water, it’s surprising if some of the same people use water when making coffee, yuk.

I don’t think tap water will kill us. It does however contain a ton of chemicals and minerals, some of which will affect the quality and taste of the coffee that you’re so lovingly making.

Most of us have access to fresh water. The first preference is a simple water purifier like Brita. This is much better than drinking water from the tap, and makes for good coffee water.

Another option is commercial spring water, but now, you’re paying big time beans. That may sound like a strange comment when you read about investing enough money on whole fresh coffee beans, because I believe in spending more on whole coffee beans than coffee grinds.

How much extra effect clean water into the brewer has on flavor to justify the extra cost is different than beans.

The value of a quality coffee is worth the price premium to me. But, the price premium between home purified water and commercially purified water is more valid related to how much of a better tasting coffee it will give me. No doubt, it will be a coffee with purer water.

Or have you ever heard of Kangen water?

I bet if you use Kangen water and some spotajava coffee you’ll have a pretty great tasting cup of coffee.

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world. It was first discovered in the highlands of Ethiopia sometime around the year 800. Coffee then spread to other countries in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. In terms of dollars traded, coffee ranks second in the world, with oil ranking first. All the coffee in the world is grown on tropical climates, located in places between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.

Today there are a few places in the world that have turned coffee cultivation into an art form.Brazil remains the largest producer of coffee in the world, with the most expensive coffee in the world coming from Southeast Asia.It is called Kopi Lewak, and the ripest coffee beans are eaten by a Common Palm Civet and then passed through the digestive system. The outer shell of the beans is digested, but the inner bean is not. The beans are then picked up off the ground and processed. It is the opinion of coffee aficionados that Kopi Lewak is the best coffee in the world, and worth the cost. It costs about 600 dollars a pound, or roughly 50 dollars a cup.

There are countless different blends and roasts of coffee. Some of the most popular are the dark rich roasts and of course decaffeinated. But a new trend is toward low acid coffees. Coffee beans contain tannic acid along with other acids. These acids benefit the body, but people who have certain health problems, like acid reflux disease, can’t tolerate them.Since acid softens tooth enamel dentists often recommend that patients limit their intake of coffee and tea.

Tyler’s Coffee is one of the finest low acid coffees on the market.Roasted in Arizona using Arabica beans, Tyler’s Coffee uses state of the art technology to roast it’s coffees.Tyler’s coffee was started by a very bright 13 year old boy in Tucson, Arizona.Today Tyler’s coffee makes one of the smoothest low acid coffees on the market.

Coffee goes through an intensive process between being grown and being brewed. When coffee plants produce coffee pods, they resemble cherries since they are red in color, and by the time they plant produces its first pods it is already 3 years old.The cherry itself is not what the farmers are after however. Inside each cherry there are two coffee beans, similar to the way peanuts grow two to a shell. To prevent over fermenting the beans must be processed quickly after being picked.Wet processing beans is the most common way to get the beans out of the shells, and they will go through the process several times.

After processing, the beans are then sorted and shipped to the roaster. The roasting process is the most important part of making coffee. It takes an experienced roaster to turn out a perfect product and the roasting is what determines the final flavor of the coffee.By roasting, the raw coffee beans which were light green and bitter are now a dark flavorful bean ready to be brewed.

There are thousands of coffee varieties from all over the world. This plethora of choices that include various coffee flavors, along with gourmet coffee brands and even organic java selections, can make picking a coffee at the local grocery store quite a tough decision-making process.

To make your life easier, keep reading for a breakdown and description of some of the world’s most popular coffee varieties.

Sumatra

Sumatra coffee is traditionally grown on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It’s known as a dark, but not darkly roasted, medium body coffee with a low acidity and a strong, almost bittersweet taste.

Sumatra tends to have an earthy, almost fruity, taint to it and can be an ideal choice as a dessert coffee.

Kona

Kona coffee is grown on the slopes of Mount Hualalai and Mauna Loa on the big island of Hawaii. Because of its rarity, rich volcanic birthplace and amazing taste, Kona coffee has built a reputation for itself as one of the best coffees in the world. This also unfortunately makes it one of the most expensive.

Because of the high price, many retailers sell blends of Kona coffee that include a percentage of Kona beans alongside cheaper Columbian or Brazilian Arabica beans.

Arabica

Arabica coffee is the sole bean of Columbia and the predominant bean of choice in most South and Central American countries. Typically, the Arabica has less caffeine than a Robusta blend, but much more flavor.

It’s best suited for a medium roast and is traditionally used for most standard, American coffee blends. The flavor, body and acidity of Arabica beans depend on the region in which it’s grown and the method used to cultivate it.

Kenya

While almost all the beans grown in Kenya are Arabica beans, they have a distinct taste and flavor. These beans are washed, have a higher acidic level and a much livelier, sweeter taste than a South or Central American Arabica.

That blackberry flavor of the Kenyan bean is also mimicked by the Harrar coffee bean, which hails from Ethiopia.

Robusta

Robusta has less flavor and a lower quality than the Arabica bean, but it’s cheaper to produce, faster to grow, and more tolerant of weather conditions and diseases. The Robusta bean is often used for instant coffees, decaf blends, supermarket coffees and instant espressos.

A Robusta bean contains about twice the caffeine as an Arabica bean, which also makes it a popular choice for espresso junkies looking for a quick fix. The bean is grown in Africa, Java, Vietnam, Bali and Sri Lanka.

Creative Cake Decorating Ideas

You want to bake a cake for a extraordinary function, you know you are creative, and you know you possess some simple cake decorating techniques that you’re eager to try out, but you need a good thought to work with. It is custom to have a cake baked by a bakery, or to invite some expert among your relative to be a baker. If you have the honor to be the chosen baker, you should welcome some fresh idea for your next piece of art.

Below are a few simple cake decorating techniques:

- Characters: You have many famous characters to utilise for cake decorating. You can create unique and special cake by drawing in Dora the Explorer, or Blues Clues. Or you can simply divide the cake to make this cake into a favorite character.

- Themes: Perhaps you would like to go with a 50’s theme, underwater adventure, sport theme, or a thundering 20’s theme for your cake decorating. Be creative and find a theme that will thrill the person you are creatively designing the cake for, and the guests. You may want to have a masque party in that theme. Whatever it is that you fancy, have fun while partaking of it.

- Motor Cakes: Boys are commonly wacky about cars, fire engines, trucks, airplanes, helicopters, tractors, or boats. Again you can use your cake decorating expertness to make a farm with a 3-D tractor, a racing strip, or a scene showing firemen putting out a fire.

- Animals: You might as well use an animal theme by making the cake look like animals, or create a scene about animals. It could be a zoo scene with some animals or pick out one animal and decorate the cake with some various decorations exhibiting where it was from. Use your imagination.

- Food: Maybe you are making a cake to suit the opening of an Italian restaurant. You could create a scene describing the building, or if this is for the chef opening the restaurant, a scene showing some Italian dishes in the kitchen will be appropriate. You can also cut the cake to look as if is were hot dog, taco, a hamburger etc. The sky is the limit when it comes to cake decorating using a food theme.

- Holiday Themes: I think of when bunny cakes got popular at Easter, Wilton has pans and decorating supplies for all holiday cake decorating designs. A heart on Valentine’s day, or a 4 leaf clover on St. Patrick’s day is very appropriate to imply happy holiday mood.

- Your Own Creation: If you have been engaged in cake decorating for rather some time, or if you are a novice with an sensuous flair, you can design your own special cake the theme or the celebration.

Regardless of what cake you make it will be the center of attention as cakes ordinarily are at a celebration. It has become tradition to have a excellent cake at every celebration. Acknowledging that you have mastered some simple cake decorating techniques and you are the one who’d be esthetic enough to attain this cake, and the kudos you will get from others, will give you a bushel of satisfaction.

I have been a coffee drinker now for about 10 years. It seems these days that I just cannot get going in the morning without that first injection of caffeine.

Years ago, as I was just getting my coffee drinking habit formed, I’d fire up my trusty stainless steel coffee maker and brew up some fresh java for my ride to work. But there was a problem with this ritual, and it was a serious one. The issue was that I just could not seem to get the coffee consistent to the exact same taste, body, aroma and strength each time. No matter how careful I was in measuring out the beans or pre-ground coffee, it was just never the same each day; until now!

I have found the solution to inconsistency in daily coffee drinking: the coffee pod.
Here is a definition of exactly what a coffee pod is:
“…coffee pods are freshly roasted coffee, ground perfect, tampered to the correct pressure and then encapsulated in a paper filter-like covering.”

The nice thing here is that your coffee is made perfectly every time because the beans and coffee are pre-measured at a factory, and not in your kitchen on-the-fly. In addition, there is no mess to clean up after I make my single cup coffee each day.
Now the only thing I have to be concerned with is the cream and sugar which are also pre-measured because I buy them that way! Now I have perfectly consistent coffee each day, and that makes me happy.

But coffee pods have many more uses than just for your home brewed coffee. My church has a big machine where coffee pods are used. You stick in 50 cents, pick out your flavored coffee pod (Columbian, breakfast blend, etc), slide it into the machine and press a button. I like this because it means less mess and once again, consistency.

The final key to that perfectly consistent cup of coffee comes in the water you use. It may not sound like much, but water definitely makes a difference. I have a reverse osmosis drinking water system at my house that gives me the cleanest and purest water around.

So to recap: the perfect and consistent cup of java can be achieved with just a few simple steps including the use of pure water, coffee pods and pre-measured cream and sugar packs. If you are anything like me, you will appreciate that perfect cup of coffee done right, day after day; consistently.

Flavored coffee - the gourmet coffee of coffee beans

Some coffee aficionados enjoy an occasional cup of flavored coffee but won’t coffee cup admit this to any coffee purist friends for fear of being considered plebeian. We buy our flavored coffees from our specialty roaster at odd times when retail traffic is at a low, hoping no one will notice us as we surreptitiously pay at the register. If caught by one of our coffeehouse buddies, we vehemently deny that the coffee is a purchase for ourselves: “Oh, this? It’s for my aging aunt Martha. She doesn’t get out much anymore.”

I think it’s about time the flavored coffee fans stood up and unite. Who cares what anyone says about our coffee-drinking habits? If it tastes good, why not enjoy it?

“Tasting good” is the key with flavored coffees. Although the aromas emanating from the coffee bins smell great, many wonder what flavors are actually delivered in their cup and how do the flavors get there?

Adding flavors to coffee is not as innovative a concept as one may think. The Arabs were the first coffee drinkers who added spices such as cinnamon to their coffees. Other Middle Easterners followed with the addition of cardamom, clove, nutmeg, black pepper, allspice and even ground nuts. Later came the addition of citrus peels, spirits and chocolate. When coffee was introduced to the Western world, they added cream and sugar to enhance the coffee flavor. These natural flavorings were added to the coffee either while brewing or once it was in the cup.

Today, flavored coffees get many of their tastes from chemical solvents which mimic natural flavorings and which are added to the whole bean while it is still warm from roasting. Because the added flavor needs to be quite assertive to be noticeable over the existing coffee flavors, you may find the aromas from a bin of flavored beans to be overpowering.

Flavored whole beans are usually separated into four categories:

vanilla-based flavors
which includes the creams (such as French vanilla or Irish cream) and the nut-based flavors (such as macadamia nut or hazelnut)

chocolate-based flavors
such as chocolate mint

fruit-based flavors
such as raspberry or coconut

spice-based flavors
such as cinnamon

Of these four groups, the vanilla-based flavors are the most popular (with hazelnut being the best-selling within this category). Second runner up is the chocolate group with the fruit then spice groups following.

Conclusions

I hope I’ve convinced the timid and closeted flavored coffee drinkers to openly enjoy your aromatic cups of java. And for those persistent Doubting Thomases, you’ll never know what you’re missing until you give it a try.

So, the next time you are out with your friends for a spotajava, rock your world by boldly stepping up to the counter and asking for a cup of hazelnut coffee and a biscotti. Your friends may be shocked but, who knows, you might inspire a revolution.

P.S. Useful guidelines for choosing best espresso coffee maker.

Nicaragua coffees are excellent distinguished coffees in the classic Central-American style: medium-bodied, straightforwardly acidy, and flavorful.

Nicaraguan Jinotega coffee is a great-tasting blend of Central American coffee that grows in the highest regions of that part of the world. Jinotega, which is in the north central region of Nicaragua, produces about 80% of the nation’s coffee. Coffee first came to Nicaragua in the mid-19th Century and, throughout that nation’s tumultuous recent history, it has continued to be a leading commodity. Coffee drinkers today appreciate the richness and full-bodied quality of coffee beans from that region, such as Nicaraguan Jinotega.

While many people all over the world drink cup after cup of coffee without thinking about the long and complicated history of the rich, dark beverage, the coffee trade has been one of the most interesting and competitive of any commodity in history.

Coffee has moved across oceans and continents, survived wars, revolutions and even diseases that have wiped out whole crops.

Coffee was first grown in Ethiopia as far back as the 11th Century. It spread through Africa and the Islamic world, later making its way to Italy and then the rest of Europe. In the 17th Century, the first coffeehouses appeared in Europe - an institution that has carried on to this very day. Once European merchants, especially the Dutch, got involved in the coffee industry, they introduced it to new regions, including Central and South America, as well as Indonesia.

Coffee houses did not become common in the United States until the 1950s. The last twenty years, however, has seen a great increase in the demand for coffee, and gourmet coffees in particular.

It is evidence of how popular this product is that people have continued to persevere in its cultivation regardless of politics, climate and other external conditions.

Coffee has played a prominent role in the economy of Nicaragua since its arrival there some century and a half ago. Mountainous regions are ideal for growing high quality coffee, so some of Nicaragua’s best beans are grown in the highest mountains of Jinotega.

Nicaraguan Jinotega coffee has the classification of SHG (Strictly High Grown), which is also called Strictly Hard Bean. This designation is confined to coffee beans grown at an altitude of at least 4500 feet above sea level. High grown beans tend to be more consistent, less acidic, more flavorful, and therefore more expensive than coffee beans grown at lower elevations. Even with all of the varieties of coffee available today, Nicaraguan Jinotega holds its own as one of the classics.

Now you know enough to understand the real beauty and variety of this coffee. That is why do not hesitate to join the group of people who are already enjoying this perfect taste.

Find out how to choose best espresso coffee maker - extra tips published.
